Ebay Tuesday, Dec 20 2011

Wow, Ebay is offering to list, for free, up to 50 items a month! I’ll be on that soon! Unfortunately, not in time for Christmas. But that’s neither here nor there. I will soon have my shop!

I will make an announcement once my shop is officially up and running.

Until next time, lovelies.

Commissions Tuesday, Dec 20 2011

Recently, two of my coworker-friends approached me to do a commission for them. (I say recently, but in all honesty, it’s been about 2 months. It takes a while when materials are hard to find.) And both wanted specifically-made earrings.

The first, to duplicate the earrings my friend & client wore at her wedding. All I was given was a smaller version of the same style earring in a different color. No problem!

The second, my other friend & client asked me if I would be able to duplicate, as best I can, the style earring worn by Sailor Moon for her daughter. I was given a photo of a pair of these earrings, which was very helpful, as I am not schooled in the ways of Sailor Moon.

Not this photo, but very similar.

A challenge, you say?

Once I was able to find the right materials for these projects, it was surprisingly easy to duplicate these styles for which I am/was unfamiliar.

Behold…

The smaller, pink earring was obviously my guide. Looks good! My client/friend said they look exactly the way her original earrings look.

These, I love! The only real challenge I faced with making this set was finding the crescent beads. Luckily, my client/friend said they didn’t have to match the photo I was given… that these were to be “inspired by” Sailor Moon. Whew!

Until next time, lovelies.

An Experiment Tuesday, Nov 1 2011

So for the past year or so, I’ve seen these magnetic beads in other people’s work. I asked one gentleman where he gets these very peculiar beads.

“China,” he tells me.

“Is there a website where I can go to?” I ask him.

“Unfortunately, no. You have to go to China.” he replies.

I walked away feeling defeated; I already had ideas planned in my head for such beads.

So, eventually it got put in the back of my mind, until….. I found them at my bead store!!!

And what luck, they were on sale!

Not exactly the color I’d prefer, but it’s something.

So then, I began to create… and make some mistakes. Mistakes can be made, that’s how we learn!

I made it too short, but, it’s still wearable!

All magnets connected, and looking very much like a butterfly.

Et voilà!

Typically, these pieces should be long enough to be worn both as a bracelet, and as a necklace. I made the above piece too short, so I decided to create another.

Ahhhh! Unfortunately, I made this one too long! So long that it won’t wrap completely around my wrist. This one will be redone & shortened. But as it is, it makes for a really nice choker necklace.

Until next time, lovelies.

Am & Em! Monday, Sep 26 2011

I know this blog is supposed to be about my jewelry, but I am way too excited to introduce my precious twin nieces!

Emily on the left, Amber on the right. Too darn cute.

It will be difficult to say goodbye to them when they head back to Georgia. Luckily, they are here for a few weeks!

And their bracelets? They were a hit!

Until next time, lovelies.

A bientôt,

Courtney
